A strong relationship has grown between The Orchards retirement village and Lisarow Public School on NSW’s Central Coast.

The Orchards had approached the school to help them name some new wings.

"These wings were to provide higher care residential quarters along the lines of a nursing home," said assistant principal Leanne Allomes.

"Our students researched all the citrus names they could find and sent them off with the result that three - Cumquat, Tangelo and Bergamot - were chosen and are now written on a plaque above the door of each wing," she said.

A donation of $1000 was made to support the school’s band.

In addition to the naming project, Lisarow Public have visited The Orchards retirement village on a number of occasions.

"The activities have included choirs and dance groups, and also interviews where residents answered questions from students on what life was like when they were young,” said Ms Allomes.

"Some of the residents are grandparents and great grandparents of our students," she said
