Retirement village operator Aura, in conjunction with Toowoomba Golf Club, Middle Ridge, has lodged a Development Application with Toowoomba Regional Council for the development of a78-apartment retirement village.

The proposed development will be located on the site of the current overflow car park and golf buggy storage area adjacent to the ninth green.

Being in close proximity to the Clubhouse makes it an ideal setting and will have the least impact on the golf course, according to Toowoomba Golf Club President Mark Mahony.

The proposed village has been designed by internationally awarded architectural practice Cox Architecture and Cox Director Richard Coulson says the project will set a benchmark for the sector and the city of Toowoomba.

The village will comprise of three separate buildings sympathetic to the surrounds with the village facilities complementing, not competing, with the Club. These facilities will include a large lounge and library, private dining room, wine room, billiards room, a gym and indoor pool as well as consulting suites and hairdresser. There will also be a putting green shared with the golf club.

The sale will also raise much-needed capital for the ongoing improvement of the course and its facilities and go a long way to securing the club’s future over the long term.
