Blue Care’s vacant Salvin Park aged care home at Carina Heights, 8km south-east of the CBD, will be demolished to make way to a new co-located retirement village developed by TriCare, a private family operator, on the site.
The village will feature 191 independent living units and a 173-bed residential care facility between two to six storeys high.
As we announced two weeks ago, Brisbane City Council is trying to speed up new aged care developments to cope with a predicted shortfall in seniors’ housing, including cutting infrastructure charges for the average aged care unit by 33% from $8,000 to $5,300 for three years.
The Carina Heights development will be carried out in five stages over 15 years, and joins TriCare’s nine other retirement villages and 15 residential aged care facilities across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
