Residents at Anchor Point Village in Warrnambool have had a partial win against council in their claim to get regular waste collection.

Council has agreed to refund levies to twenty three property owners at the village for collection that never happened.

Yet despite a petition to council requesting the service, rubbish trucks will still not collect bins within the village, obliging residents to continue using a private contractor.

Because council vehicles are not sent on to private roads – the council cite potential damage to the surface - village residents either continue as they are, or wheel their bins to Aberline Road and pay the council levy.

The issue stems from a 2007 planning permit which made roads within the development private, and garbage collection must be arranged by the developer.
