Aged care provider Benetas has received planning approval for a $110 million development in a prime gateway location on Doncaster Hill in Manningham Victoria.
The proposed site would be the first purpose-built multi-storey development of this kind for Benetas and will include a fully integrated mix of Retirement Living Apartments and Residential Aged Care accommodation. The facility will comprise individual low rise towers providing for a 124 bed Residential Aged Care Facility, accessed from Doncaster Road, as well as 76 Retirement Living apartments with access from Carawatha Road.
The two and three bed Retirement Living apartments will have complimentary lifestyle services including rooftop terrace, cinema, gymnasium and spa, library, internet café, coffee shop and restaurant as well as wellbeing and allied health services, supporting council’s vision for a community focused sustainable village.
The separate Residential Aged Care facility will provide accommodation in separate apartments for groups of no more than eight residents, each with a dedicated private lounge, dining room and kitchen and will include a wide range of community spaces on site such as a residents bar, private dining rooms, hairdresser, activity and recreational areas.
According to Benetas General Manager of Strategy, Infrastructure and Housing, Chris Karagiannis, this is a world class development with the concept of an integrated facility that also provides for two very distinct living environments.
With the Manningham population ageing there is a growing need to provide local accommodation and services for older people and this flagship project supports Benetas’ vision to provide communities that offer choice and support and a positive and fulfilling experience of ageing he adds.
Benetas currently has 13 residential homes across Metro Melbourne and Regional Victoria, plus an independent living village in Gippsland.
