Southern Cross Care’s Mount Barker retirement village is set to receive a $70 million improvement on multiple residential facilities this year.
The development is a continuation of a 10-year development program, which started with upgrades on Southern Cross Care Oakfield Lodge Residential Centre that were completed in 2016.
A state of the art gym and community centre are just two of the projects to be included in the Mount Barker development, along with the construction of 180 villas constructed in multiple stages, with stage one consisting of 22 villas.
The ground-breaking ceremony was held on 19 December by Southern Cross Care CEO Mr. David Moran, and Mount Barker District Council Mayor Ann Ferguson OAM.
Southern Cross Care Chief Executive Officer, David Moran, said it was a privilege to be part of another milestone for the Mount Barker community.
“This retirement estate will offer residents an opportunity to rise every day surrounded by style and harmony, with a tranquil countryside outlook and with every local amenity at their doorstep.
“Our integrated Health & Wellness Services approach, and on site amenities will allow residents to enjoy a better quality of life across four key areas of wellbeing – physical health, social relationships, psychological health and the environment.
“Southern Cross Care is also glad to inject a significant investment which supports jobs in Mount Barker,” Mr. Moran said.
The development will be co-located with award-winning Southern Cross Care Oakfield Lodge Residential Care Centre.
In 2016, Oakfield Lodge won the National Master Builders Association Construction Industry Award, the National Lifestyle Housing for Seniors Living Aged Care Facilities Award, and the SA Master Builders Association Building Excellence Award for Best Commercial Building.
South Australian firm Buildtec Group has been awarded the Stage 1 contract. Recently, Buildtec also completed the final stage of the Southern Cross Care Riverpoint Retirement Estate development situated in Noarlunga Downs.
With such prestige backing the Mount Barker development, the result is sure to position the community as another highly regarded addition the Southern Cross Care network.
