Uniting AgeWell welcomed over 50 guests to the sales launch of their brand new $64 million independent retirement village complex, Manningtree Hawthorn in Leonda on the Yarra, on Thursday the 2nd of November.
Those who attended were eager to hear about the retirement village provider’s exciting development and meet personally with Uniting AgeWell representatives and the Manningtree Hawthorn sales team, to learn more about the 49-apartment complex that is due for completion towards the end of 2019.
Manningtree Hawthorn Village Sales Manager Anne Kemp said the launch was a great success, with an impressive number of people reserving apartments at the launch event.
“Manningtree is in a fabulous location and the facilities are excellent. Uniting AgeWell’s home care services and onsite aged care community has also been a drawcard for buyers,” she said.
At the launch, Uniting AgeWell CEO Andrew Kinnersly identified that this new complex would address a local need for more retirement living spaces.
“About 15.1 per cent of the Boroondara population is aged 65-plus and there is a growing need for high quality services to support people to live and age well in this area,” he said.
The site of the impending retirement village was once home to Moorfields independent living and Broadmead aged care communities, which were established in the 60s and 70s respectively, spanning the centrality of Manningtree and Wattle Roads.
Also present at the launch was Uniting AgeWell Board Chair Allan Thompson, who remarked that the original facilities had delivered great care and residential services for many years.
“Those facilities have been closed for around a decade because they no longer met the needs and expectations of people of the 21st century. In that time we have been working to concept and develop a community that would suit the way seniors want to live today,” he said.
To create the design, amenities and angle of the Manningtree retirement village lifestyle, Uniting AgeWell conducted extensive research emphasizing focus groups with local people aged 65-plus. Results found that retirees want to continue living in the area they love that is close to family and friends, doing activities they enjoy, in a safe and secure community.
Home designs will also be suited to retiree’s tastes; low-maintenance, light-filled, spacious, well-equipped and elegantly designed homes connected to nature that have the space to entertain family and friends is what Manningtree Hawthorn aim to deliver.
