Murray Gardens Retirement Village resident and artist Holger Christen is creating a buzz around the community as he opens his latest exhibition on the 8th of December, with an open invitation to friends, family and the public to attend the exhibition’s red-carpet evening launch party.
Eight months after Mr Christen’s highly successful March exhibition at GIGS Art Gallery, curating a following show at the village’s community centre was a natural choice.
This time, the showcased collection will include a wide range of sculpture and paintings, incorporating his trademark bold use of colour.
Co-Village Manager Anne Jack said anyone who has seen Holger’s work can’t help but be impressed.
“All of Holger’s exhibitions have been fantastically received and we’re lucky to have his talents at our village,” she said.
“This will be the first time I will exhibit my sculptures,” Mr Christen said.
“It’s very exciting because I’ve been working on this exhibition for four months.”
Since moving to Murray Gardens 18 months ago, Holger has enjoyed having the time and freedom to perfect his art.
“I have had so many new ideas that I’ve got from exhibitions, the Internet, and the art gallery where I volunteer,” he said.
“Hundreds of hours of experimentation, frustration and moments of pure joy go into my work.”
The launch event will include live music, a licensed bar and gourmet food, and commences at 6pm at 36 Mountford Crescent, East Albury, and will be open for all to enjoy until 31st January.
