The SA State Government has paved the way for the first integrated golf course/retirement village in South Australia following the Revocation of Open Space Proclamation on a section of Flagstaff Hill Golf Club land.
The retirement village will feature 150 homes, including 42 villas and 108 apartments. The clubhouse will also be significantly upgraded to include a number of new facilities, such as an indoor heated pool, cinema, refurbished restaurant, bar and coffee shop, licensed deck, golf simulators, juniors’ lounge, gymnasium, hair salon and library.
Club Captain Paul Shillabeer said the revocation was a significant step in ensuring the future of the Flagstaff Hill Golf Club.
“We now look forward to working with Living Choice and the Onkaparinga Council through the planning process for the development. Special thanks to Steve Murray MP, Member for Davenport, for his support through this first stage,” he said.
Simon Channon from town planning firm URPS said the revocation would allow Living Choice and the golf club to now lodge applications for the land division, clubhouse alterations/additions and the villas, followed by an application for the apartments.
“We’ve had very good feedback from the City of Onkaparinga and look forward to working further with Council,” he said.
Living Choice already has nine villages in three states, including the award-winning Fullarton village and the Woodcroft village, where they have just opened a $7 million leisure centre.
