The big story in 2014 was the listing of the three private aged care operators – Japara, Regis and Estia. All exceeded any blue sky valuation – especially Estia. It was valued at over $1 billion two years after it was a sleepy 10-facility Victorian care operator.
We received a lengthy email from Nick Loudon, CEO of Seasons Private Aged Care, after our article on the FY16 results for Aveo. In summary, he is enthusiastic about the purchase of Freedom Aged Care by Aveo and the prospect of it being given prominence across Australia.
The private operator has made its first acquisition of the new financial year, adding the Albert Gardens village in Orange to its growing portfolio. In FY15, they bought 13 villages.
“In this group, the rate is 37.6 male suicides per 100,000 people compared to 20.6 male suicides in the 20 to 24-year group and 29.9 males in the 40 to 44-year group,” Raylee Taylor, Chair of the Care For Life Suicide Prevention Network said.
The practice has installed the Elsi Smart Floor system at two NSW aged care homes – the Tinonee Gardens Multicultural Village near Newcastle and at Twilight Aged Care’s Horton House in Gordon, Sydney.
