The Aged Care Sector Committee has released its recommendations to the federal government to create a single aged care system covering home-care and residential care over the next five years.
After 22 years as the House of Representatives elected representative for the Sydney seat of Mackellar, Bronwyn Bishop has been dumped as the Liberal candidate for the forthcoming election in favour of Jason Falinski who for the past 20 years has been the founder and managing director of CareWell Health. It markets furniture and health aids for the aged care sector.
Last week the private aged care group Arcare announced it will grow its number of beds from 2,600 across 27 care facilities to 4,000 within two years. Comparing this with Japara and Estia’s stock exchange listing, Arcare will be valued north of $700 million. This will be the second fortune made by brothers John, Russell and Graham Knowles and Ian Ball.
